WBFS Manager 2.5 Released

First off, I'd like to thank the few people who generously donated their hard-earned money, no matter how much the amount was.
Second, I'd like to thank all the translators who put in their own precious time to help with the translations and BarbaxX for the new imagery.
I'd also like to thank the users who provided feedback and sent in their error messages to help improve this version.
This is the last major update to WBFS Manager before version 3.0 which will be feature complete, with the following fixes and changes:

Changes (2.5)

  • Added indirect Drive-To-Drive transferring and cloning. (Click Drive-To-Drive expander (the line under the buttons) to show related options).
  • Added automatic RAR archive extraction (drag and drop or use the browse button).
  • Added batch extraction and deletion. (Hold shift to select a range of items, or hold Ctrl to select separate individual items).
  • Added exporting list of games on drive to a .CSV (Comma-separated values) file. Right-click on left-hand list and click export. Can export entire list or only selected items.
  • Added ability to use more than one cover directory (all downloaded covers will still be downloaded to My Documents\WBFS Manager Covers)
  • Added estimated total size for Games to Add list.
  • Added Italian, German and Chinese (Traditional) language support
  • Added information about the number of items in each list.
  • Added message informing user that they're using the wrong version if they try using 32-bit version on 64-bit Windows.
  • Updated some icons and imagery (courtesy of BarbaxX).
  • All changes from previous versions are included.

Fixes (2.5)

  • Fixed an issue with some buttons being hidden in some languages. (Now using a toolbar. Click on arrow on right side of toolbar to see any hidden icons).
  • Fixed a bug with the 2.2.2 not working on Chinese OSes (released earlier as Chinese Edition).
  • Fixed some special cases for region codes.
  • Fixed some issues with some translations.
  • Fixed a few other minor bugs.
  • All fixes from previous versions are included.

Indirect Drive-To-Drive transferring and Cloning/Auto RAR Extraction notes

In this version drive-to-drive transferring and Auto RAR extraction are done using an intermediary temporary directory that is set when you first launch WBFS Manager.
The drive with the temporary directory on it should have at least 4.8 GB free space for single layer games. Double-layer games will require more space.
You can change the temporary directory by going to Edit->Options.
To do a drive-to-drive transfer:
  1. Load the source drive.
  2. Open the Drive-To-Drive section and load the target (secondary) drive.
  3. Click "Clone" to copy all games from the source drive to the target drive OR Choose some games from the left-hand list (source drive) using Shift or Ctrl, then click "Copy to this Drive".

Direct drive-to-drive copying will be available in WBFS Manager 3.0.

Notes

  • For those of you having issues starting WBFS Manager, please make sure your using "Run as Administrator" for Win Vista and 7.
  • If the program is crashing at startup with a message saying "This program has stopped working...", the reason for this 99% of the time is that your .NET FW version is 3.5 instead of 3.5 SP1. Please note, theres a significant difference between these two. To avoid problems, allow the setup to install .NET 3.5 SP1 for you. If you don't want to do that, please use the following correct link for .NET 3.5 SP1: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=AB99342F-5D1A-413D-8319-81DA479AB0D7&displaylang=en
  • If your having issues with drive detection make sure the drive was initially formatted as FAT32 and that the partition is a Primary partition.

Requirements

  • .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (the installer will prompt you to automatically download and install it if you don't already have it.)

Supported Operating Systems

  • Windows Vista (tested thoroughly. May need to "Run as Administrator" depending on user's settings and UAC settings).
  • Windows 7 (tested and working. May need to "Run as Administrator" depending on user's settings and UAC settings).
  • Windows XP (tested by a few other users, should work fine.)

  1. This GUI is awsome, best one of all.
    I'm using since 2.0.
Just a suggestion for the Channel Creator, can you use something like the program CRAP, so you can choose the loader, options and channel ID.

  2. Very nice indeed, I love it. Used since 2.2.2. Never have used any other, but I don't see anything missing from this.

Using Windows Server 2008 Standard, the only problem I've had is cover downloading seems to work on and off for some reason. I mean it always fetches them if they exist and displays them, but storing them to any location can be a problem. It downloaded two covers and put them in the folder, but another cover it downloaded thats perfectly fine it ignored.

Downloading for covers didn't work at all for me in 2.2.2. I had to fetch them manually from http://www.theotherzone.com/wii/

    Thanks again for the program!

  3. In the "games to add" side of the display PAL games are shown as NTSC.

Out of 34 games I can only see 3 covers. All other images are 1kb .pngs. Where is the program getting the images from?

  4. Hi, The program is getting images from http://www.theotherzone.com/wii/
Is you firewall possibly blocking the program from connecting to the web? Try deleting all the covers in the My Documents\WBFS Manager Cover
Also, regarding the PAL being shown as NTSC, I've tested it with Mario Kart Wii PAL and it shows it as PAL, i'll do some more checks and tests soon.

  5. Mario Kart PAL (RMCP01) shows as NTSC in the right hand window, and PAL once transfered to the HDD. This is the same for all my other PAL ISO's.

Deleting the covers, removing the cover path I entered in the options and restarting the program has fixed the .png problem.

Outstanding program by the way. Thanks for the good work.

  7. The RAR extraction is a nice feature, but it would be better if it did the extraction at the time of adding to the WBFS drive instead of when you add the game to the list. That way, the user can quickly load up a list of RARed ISOs without having to wait for each one to be extracted to the temp drive, and then when they add all the games in the list to the WBFS drive, it could do the RAR extraction then (extract the first game, add it to the WBFS drive, delete from temp, repeat), meaning the user can walk away and let it do its thing.

  8. Thanks for your suggestion. Yes, this has been suggested a few times and most likely in version 3 there will be an option to skip the Add To Drive list and directly add games to the WBFS drive.

  9. This doesn't work for my USB drive. It copies a 2.0 GB game in like 10 seconds and says its finished successfully. I tried everything to make it work and I'm very technically savvy.

I can load ISO directly from the wii by can't do it from the PC.

  10. Hmm... do you get a red X icon next to the name of the game after adding it? If so hover your mouse over it and write the error message here... Thanks.

  11. Skipping the Add to Drive list and directly adding games from RARs to the WBFS drive would be good, but still wouldn't allow you to queue up lots of RARed games and then hit the button to add to WBFS and walk away. Is it possible to make it so you choose a RAR file and it does a quick internal scan of the RAR to get the ISO information, and then add it to the list? Then, after you click the button to add to the WBFS drive, it will do the extraction of any and all RARs in the list.

  12. is it a difficult thing to have in v3.0 or something to be able to extract a scrubbed iso as is on the WBFS partition as an option. Select scrubbed or full before clicking file location. Is there any that do this currently ?This would make it the leader of WBFS Guis Thanks.

  13. I agree it would be great to be able to extract scrubbed isos. It will save tons of space!

    Thanks for the GREAT work!

  14. Is this program meant to delete the extracted Isos from the computer's HDD, when you delete them from the external Wii-HDD? I've recently made some room on my 40 GB external disk and have just discovered that the files are gone from the PC's directory as well (where they were stored for backup reasons before they're transferred to the external HDD). Big bummer, because I'm gonna have to re-acquire them all now.
